WITH MY WIZARD AND MY GOBLIN CREW

Illustrations of the 4e DnD party my friends and I currently have going. Everyone here is pretty much going strong except Perrin, who died to a vampire not 30 minutes after I finished his sketch.

Kiiriana - Cynical and apathetic ranger guide who would rather not be tagging along with our ragtag band
Aadon - Yes, he is in fact male.
Urik - Alcoholic 126 year old lecherous and horribly gruff dwarf. This is my character. He is alcoholic even by dwarven standards.
Alan - Most normal guy on the crew, had his left hand chopped off by a tiefling warlord.
Balthazar - Straightforward, fundamentalist paladin. Gets his way. Isn't above smiting people with horrible vengeance who try to stop him.
Perrin - Womanizing, extremely suave halfling rogue. The only halfling to ever grow facial hair. Got his throat ripped out by a vampire. He looks tiny because he is. He is also incredibly built for a halfling.

I was pretty much not paying attention and just drawing the whole time XD

this party looks potentialy epic, i sincerely feel bad for perrin tho, my catfolk lorechaser had a similar death... and your dwarf is an alcoholic even by dwarven standards? what does he drink? liquor made by fermenting rocks?

it's been almost 3 years since i last played D&D *playgroups are hard to comeby* but i got a couple of friends interested in it and if all goes well, i'll pick it up again during this winter

I remember making a kickass Dwarf Cleric of Nerull back in 3.5, we're a small group of 3 so we had a tournament arena game, all on 10th level. The interesting match was my Oskar (the cleric) with a scythe against the half-orc monk with nets. While the orc was tossing nets over me I was too busy casting divine power and other nifty buffs, including the cool increase in size from medium to large creature and increasing the weapon size for more damage. The poor sod couldn't do anything after Oscar ripped off the net and laid down a nice 56 damage critical hit with an enormous scythe. Man I swear, it takes 2 disintegrates to kill that dwarf... unbelievable.

Now we are starting this new fangled 4th edition with me as the DM, looks a lot more simpler to play than 3.5 from what I've read so far....

XD Yeah

It's super smooth and streamlined, a lot of ambiguous or arbitrary rules have been cleaned up, feels a lot nicer and easier to play. So that's a definite plus.

The downside is now everything is a lot (and I mean a lot) more limited. No more crazy multiclassing, really limited ';prestige' classes, and a set selection of powers which means most characters will be one of two or three cookie cutter builds.

Overall I enjoy it.

I guess the stopped emphasizing the character building and focused more on the actual adventuring to be more smooth and fun

Yeah, it's still a fine system. The lack of customization hurts a bit but it's nice not to have to go through approximately 30 rulebooks every 5 minutes.

Heh, sorry that last one ran long - That's what happens when my little brother plays his character...

Well, we decided to give it a try and it's quite nice really. A lot more streamlined than the other editions (even if it does seem like the designers have been playing too much WoW)

Although I do dislike how limited wizards are.

i dislike how restrictive the system is. I was able to dissect 3e and 3.5e. And why isn't my bard available?
